Flying for Kosovo

Recognize Kosovo's Independence!

Greenland

Posted by admin On May - 19 - 2010

I did not like being 07:15 hours over cold water and next to polar bears in a single engine plane, but thankfully we survived. The landscape of Greenland is absolutely breath-taking and this place is by far one of the most fascinating places I’ve visited on earth. Flying over the icebergs, glaciers, cliffs and fjords of this country was absolutely breath-taking! We met some nice German friends here and found out together that prices here are pretty expensive. AVGAS is $17USD a gallon. Though beautiful to fly over, this country is one of the most expensive fueling stop that I’ve made on the entire mission.

Next stop is Iceland and then Europe.

Wow! I didn’t think a mono-airplane could fly for that long?? How did you do that?

Amazed. To answer your question. Small aircraft such as the one that James is flying could remaing flying for about 5 hours at 120 Mph (192kmph) However, his modified verison could fly more.
Keep in mind. Is the pilot thats doing the flying, all merits go to james berisha

    Hi James,
Glad to see you made it safely too after meeting you in Goose Bay. We did not meet you again in Narsarsuaq, we immediately headed for Iceland. Our flight time to Greenland was 5:20 h.

Thanks Arian – I agree – this is quite an amazing journey James is making, I sure hope he is getting his message out to all as he hoped.

James mentioned AVGAS in his blog – so this is not a turbine engine in his aircraft? You said modified, does that mean he has a bigger engine in order to fly that distance?
